Hotels in Venice, Italy:

-The first option is to stay in the city, which can be a bit more expensive than hotels on the mainland. However, in my opinion is better, especially for short visits. We stayed at the beautiful hotel- Hotel American-Dinesen. Central and close to all the main places to visit in Venice. The hotel combines classic elegance with modern comfort. Located in the charming Dorsoduro district, this boutique hotel offers picturesque views of Rio delle Zattere. Immerse yourself in timeless Venetian architecture and enjoy personalized hospitality for a memorable stay in the floating city. For booking and more details click here.

Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano

-Another option is to take a hotel on the mainland and travel to the city by public transportation or taxi. A great hotel close to the city is Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano which provides a modern and comfortable stay just minutes from Venice's attractions. With stylish accommodations and convenient amenities, it offers a perfect blend of comfort and accessibility for an enjoyable visit. For booking and more details click here.

For hotel booking I recommend using one of three options:

Important tip: It is recommended to check prices on each website and book where the best conditions and prices are available.

1.For hotel or apartment reservations, I suggest using Booking.com, a convenient and excellent site that allows you to find the best price for a hotel or apartment, a site that is very common and popular with travelers around the world, offering more than 28 million apartments/hotels from around the world. The company has a customer service that works 24/7 with ease. For booking click here or use the search below:

2.Also you can check for accommodation at TripAdvisor. For booking click here or use the link below:

3.Another reliable platform for accommodation booking is "Agoda", the platform makes discounted rates available at approximately 2.9 million hotels and private homes around the globe, ranging from budget options to five-star luxury. For booking Click here for booking or use the search below:

Arriving from the airport:

-The two nearest airports are Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Airport.

  • Marco Polo Airport (main airport of the city) is the closest airport, located about 20 minutes from the city. There are 3 options for arriving to the city from Marco Polo Airport (Depending on your accommodation location):

1.By public transportation (Bus/ Train), it can take up to 30 minutes to arrive at the city entrance, and from there you can use a public "bus boat" or private taxi boat. Click here to check the timetable and book bus/train tickets. Another convenient option is to pre-book a place on a special Bus Transfer that will take you from the airport to the Venice main bus station, and from there you can use a public "bus boat" or private taxi boat. Click here to book tickets for the Bus Transfer from/to Marco Polo Airport.

2.By private/shared taxi boat transfer directly from the airport to the hotel (or nearby location). Arriving at your hotel from the airport is made excellent and convenient with a water taxi ride. Experience the charm of Venice's canals from a local's perspective while traveling to and from Marco Polo Airport. In my opinion, it's the most convenient and unforgettable way to commute to and from the city. We booked the shared one and was lucky to be alone! The Taxi boat can be purchased from "Tiqets" an excellent and very popular website among worldwide travelers, in one of the links below:

  • Treviso Airport is another airport that is close to Venice but located further away compared to Marco Polo Airport. It is located about 40 minutes ( around 40km) from Venice. There are 2 options for arriving to the city from Treviso Airport (Depending on your accommodation location):

1.Using a public transportation/ Bus transfer. You can take a bus that leaves directly from the airport to Treviso Central Train Station, which takes about 10 minutes to get there (for 10euros), and take a train to Venice Santa Lucia Station(Venice) or Venice Mestre train station (Mainland city) will take about 30-40 minutes and from there you can use a public "bus boat" or private taxi boat. Click here to check the timetable and book bus/train tickets. Another convenient option is to pre-book a place on a special Bus Transfer that will take you from the airport to the Venice central bus station, and from there you can use a public "bus boat" or private taxi boat. Click here to book tickets for the Bus Transfer from/to Treviso Airport.

Getting around in Venice, Italy:

  • The most suggested way to explore the city is by walking around and exploring its epic architecture and historic landmarks.

  • However, when you get tired or need to get from one side to another city, you can use the public "boat" bus of the city. Also, it is a cheaper and excellent way to admire the city canals from a boat. Ticket to the "boat" bus can be purchased from "Tiqets" an excellent and very popular website among worldwide travelers, in the link below:

SIM for internet connection:

  • If your device supports a virtual SIM (E-SIM), in order to save money and time, I highly recommend purchasing a virtual SIM from the company "Airalo", a very popular and excellent company among travelers. You can purchase through the following link: click here to purchase, or in the app: click here to purchase.

  • A second option is to buy a SIM in the city center from one of the local cellular providers, I personally do not recommend buying in the airport because the prices are very expensive relative to the city.

Pro tip!

  • Starting in 2024, visitors to the city will be required to pay an entrance fee. To avoid inconvenience upon arrival, it is recommended that you check whether the dates you are planning to visit require payment. You can visit the official website to pay the entry fee and check the relevant dates by clicking here.

  • A great way to enjoy the city and save money is by purchasing the "The Venice Pass" or "Venice Discovery Pass".
